Dr. Ralph Maughan is professor emeritus of political science at Idaho State University. He was a Western Watersheds Project Board Member off and on for many years, and was also its President for several years. For a long time he produced Ralph Maughan’s Wolf Report. He was a founder of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition. He and Jackie Johnson Maughan wrote three editions of “Hiking Idaho.” He also wrote “Beyond the Tetons” and “Backpacking Wyoming’s Teton and Washakie Wilderness.” He created and is the administrator of The Wildlife News.

Interestingly, MT FWP had a special session this week about the effects of global warming on the fisheries of Montana. I happened to “snag” a couple handouts and a copy of the Boone and Crockett hunting club from this summer.
In the B&C publication there was an interesting and large portion of the magazine devoted to the history of the Forest Service and its conceptualization.
I wasn’t able to talk to anyone but I thought it was a good idea given the serious die-off off fish in the upper elevations of Yellowstone NP this past year. It will be interesting to see what they conclude.
I listened on C Span to the Senate energy/climate debate. There are still far too many Senators who deny “facts” and reject any & all possibilities of global climate change. Nothing happens as these fools must be appeased as they rank short term job loses more important than a potential global holocaust. It is so true that men of great wealth & “position” are not immune to the disease of mythology & irrationality.
