  1. “Wyoming takes its big game seriously, and our office certainly takes this case seriously,” Johnson said.
Well, lets see how seriously they take it…………….
    What a Dick!

  2. Don’t suppose they would have done much if it hadn’t hit the press. That’s when they usually get serious about anything.

  3. If the guy did that with 2 wolves instead of antelope, Wyoming Fish and Game would have probably given him a medal of bravery…

  4. Ever notice how this sort of thing goes on with little impunity, if any, in states that have the lowest education ratings–states that spend the least per student–in the nation? And even if you didn’t originate there, you’ll be welcomed as long as you can prove you’re dumb as they want you to be.

  5. I think this incident is more an outcome of the influx of thousands of out of staters/permanent transients who’ve come to Wyoming to milk the coal-bed methane/natural gas boom. Poaching and mindless killing of wildlife is way up both in the Powder River Basin and the Green River Basin. Not to mention other crimes.

  6. Poaching, wildlife harrassment, etc. is not being treated are not being treated as serious offences in many areas. This guy should have his hunting priveleges revoked for life, his/the company’s truck siezed (that would really make a differnce), and a fine imposed that breaks his finances and/or forces him to flee the area. We need to F U these folks because its the only response they understand. Then legitmate ethical hunters won’t have to put up with as much crap as we do from the great disconnected masses.

  7. Anyone know offhand who the district judge is?

If not, I’ll call Sweetwater County Attorney Brett Johnson on Monday to find out who the district judge is and I’ll post his/her phone number and address so those that are interested can make contact and let the judge know their opinion of how Jonathan Hefner shoud be sentenced should he be found guilty of two counts of wanton destruction of big game, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $10,000 fine for each count.

  8. Judge E. Victoria Schofield
    Circuit Court
    P.O. 1720
    Green River, WY 82935
    307-872-6460

    Jonathan Hefner
Charged with two counts of wanton destruction of big game, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $10,000 fine for each count.

Judge’s office told me to send ONLY opinions as to sentencing; anything related to the case or defendent will prejudice the judge. Judge’ office will send copies to prosecuting attorney’s office.

  9. Perhaps they should do some time behind bars…? and some form of monetary consequence on top of losing most of the rights afforded by G&F?

That’s what I would want to see them suffer through, at he very least.

It’s a respect issue. There seems to be a severe lack of respect for wildlife and nature in general in the mainstream social context.
