Dr. Ralph Maughan is professor emeritus of political science at Idaho State University. He was a Western Watersheds Project Board Member off and on for many years, and was also its President for several years. For a long time he produced Ralph Maughan’s Wolf Report. He was a founder of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition. Too hot for cheat grass? I’m pretty sure that cheat grass is the Official Native Grass of Hell.
This is a much larger problem than that of moronic state fish & game agencies offing wolves (not that I don’t care about wolves). Perhaps I see it that way because I’m locked in a struggle unto death with cheat grass and leafy spurge, and I hold no illusions about who will outlast whom. Scary.
I have thought that some stimulus money could go for a labor intensive attack on spurge, dyer’s woad, cheatgrass, knapweed, etc.
The ramp up time for the program would be short. So would the training period, and there is a lot to do.
It think FDR’s CCC engaged in this kind of work.
