Idaho state officials, livestock producers, and Idaho Sportsmen for Fish and (some) Wildlife – hand in hand…

Video of the recent Boise wolf hearing on the WWP blog.

Look who’s going to be running the show for wolves in Idaho. Note: “management flexibility” means kill wolves without restriction.

That’s the endangered species act under George Bush and Dirk Kempthorne. Note that Jim Caswell, in one of the video segments, is the new nominee to head the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (the largest portion of the public lands). Colorado’s U.S.Senator Ken Salazar has put Caswell’s nomination on hold, where it will hopefully stay until this God-awful Administration is done for.

  1. I read the other day that the Nez Perce favor the 10j ruling change. Hard to figure that one.

  2. They are under a lot of pressure from the state of Idaho.

That’s why the politicians don’t just say “we’re going to kill a whole bunch of wolves.” Words like “management flexibility” can calm the anxiety of people and groups. They might believe that things aren’t so bad.

  3. the representative for the Nez Perce said that tribe does not support ‘control’ of wolves for ungulate distribution, use of feeding areas, movement, behavior, nutrition and other factors not directly related to population demographics. Paraphrase : “The tribe supports and believes wolves should be given additional safeguards on public lands.”

Watch the Nez Perce tribe’s testimony
