Dr. Ralph Maughan is professor emeritus of political science at Idaho State University. He was a Western Watersheds Project Board Member off and on for many years, and was also its President for several years. For a long time he produced Ralph Maughan’s Wolf Report. He was a founder of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition. He and Jackie Johnson Maughan wrote three editions of “Hiking Idaho.” He also wrote “Beyond the Tetons” and “Backpacking Wyoming’s Teton and Washakie Wilderness.” He created and is the administrator of The Wildlife News.

I saw a black bear within 1/4 mile of Cascade at noon today. They are really struggling this year.
Has anyone considered supplementa feeding to keep em out of trouble?
They are so scattered. They aren’t in herds, so if this was a good idea, I don’t think practical; and of course, a fed bear remembers where it got good food and will come back.
I am doing a research project about bears sighted in Idaho and I am having a hard time finding information related to this. Can you help point me into the right direction?
