Dr. Ralph Maughan is professor emeritus of political science at Idaho State University. He was a Western Watersheds Project Board Member off and on for many years, and was also its President for several years. For a long time he produced Ralph Maughan’s Wolf Report. He was a founder of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition. He and Jackie Johnson Maughan wrote three editions of “Hiking Idaho.” He also wrote “Beyond the Tetons” and “Backpacking Wyoming’s Teton and Washakie Wilderness.” He created and is the administrator of The Wildlife News.

I watched the PBS Nova program “Extreme Ice” last night and if you doubt the damage greenhouse gases are causing to our planet, I would recommend watching this program. It is a shocking revelation of what is happening to the pace of glacial melting in Alaska, Iceland, Greenland and the Antarctic. Very disturbing.

I am not in Dyson’s camp on that issue.
The Dysons are one smart bunch. I’m also referring to his daughter Esther and son George.
My impression is that his views [Freeman Dyson] have become grander (more speculative and further from the data) as he has aged.
I want to add that the greenhouse gas(es) problem goes far beyond carbon dioxide alone and the warming it facilitates.
