How are they ever going to get the word out to hunters out of phone and tv contact that are in the woods in hunting camp that too many wolves from District 3 were killed?
This should illustrate to Judge Molloy the fatal flaw in these promised controlled hunts.
Larry-This is how a number of seasons are operated by various states for bear and cougar. They just put out the word that Black Bear season is closed for the Wyoming and Salt River Ranges here in Wyoming. Hunters are obligated to call in or check online to see that the season is still open. On occassion the quota is overrun by an animal or two, but nothing that matters big picture. This is how 13 wolves wound up killed before the season ended though the quota was 12.
If this is handled like mountain lion and black bear hunts are then this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. You will still see the SSS crowd.
I wonder how many wolves were lost to SSS during this “hunting” season? Also how many were lost this year to Wildlife Services?

Anytime they have a season with a quota, the quota is always lower than the actual desired harvest objective. There is a built in buffer. Montana has been doing this for years in the unlimited sheep hunting districts and there has never been a problem.
I just saw where Montana closed down several lmountain lion hunting districts after the sub quota has been reached for general rifle season.

I normally agree with this, but Idaho has made is clear they want more wolves dead than their quota. In addition, their wolf quota is a larger percentage of the total wolf population than Montana’s.
We are expecting a Wildlife Services’ killing spree next spring using the excuse of livestock predation to kill as many wolves as are taken in the hunt.
They will probably want to get entire packs in certain areas where powerful noblemen live.

In looking at the quotas for Mountain lions, only three districts have been closed and one was never opened, but the rest of the state is still open. 314, 502 and 575 are closed.
I agree with Ralph. The authorities will be wiping out packs to appease the ranchers. Is there nothing more we can do to stop this? Anyone else we can write to?
Molloy needs to know. that would be irreparable harm for sure.

Save Bears
So, when they reach the quota they will shut down the lion hunting in the other areas. Hunters have only reached the quota in three areas which will close at 1/2 after sunset in those areas.

Once those quotas are filled the season will no longer be open and for a hunter to shoot a wolf, it will be illegal. As far a authorities killing wolves, that is not hunters, that is governmental bodies, both state and federal.

I agree, when the quotas are reached they will close down the areas, just as they have done now for years, I was just stating what I was reading on their page, and you said several, which at this point in time is not accurate, they have not closed down several areas and to add 170 won’t be close, they have an unlimited quota in that hunting unit..
