Every time there is an oil “leak,” “spill,” “rupture,” or whatever they call it, soon we learn that the oil companies have been cheating and lying. Often the federal and/or state regulators have been complicit.
Now we see it again.
Dirty little secret: 40% of our imported oil comes from Canadian tar sands; more than any other source. One of the most environmentally destructive oil extractions ever devised! Similar leaks have occurred in Michigan and a few other places, recently.
