Dr. Ralph Maughan is professor emeritus of political science at Idaho State University. He was a Western Watersheds Project Board Member off and on for many years, and was also its President for several years. For a long time he produced Ralph Maughan’s Wolf Report. He was a founder of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition. He and Jackie Johnson Maughan wrote three editions of “Hiking Idaho.” He also wrote “Beyond the Tetons” and “Backpacking Wyoming’s Teton and Washakie Wilderness.” He created and is the administrator of The Wildlife News.

Idaho has five wolf zones with stated desired kill numbers. those numbers are in the first column. The number of “known” wolves in those zones are in the second column. Notice anything unusual?
And yes I realize that there are probably more wolves out there than the known #, but know one knowes if that is one more or 100 more. But the point is, what other “big Game anaimal” has the kill number set higher than the “known” number?
I was afraid of that. the numbers did not stay seperated. Damn it.
