This story has many angles. The anti-wolf PR is certainly off the wall and outside of any science or even ad hoc experience of any experienced outdoors person. SCI has stepped on their “something” by being involved in this and yet I have seen SCI pour money into conservation projects with no expectation of a any “big racks for big bucks” quid pro quo. I am not sure that every mouth that speaks for SCI is under control. That said, if they can’t manage their own PR, they deserve the reaction seen in this article, as polarizing and extreme as it is.

‎"At some point we must draw a line across the ground of our home and our being, drive a spear into the land and say to the bulldozers, earthmovers, government and corporations, “thus far and no further.” If we do not, we shall later feel, instead of pride, the regret of Thoreau, that good but overly-bookish man, who wrote, near the end of his life, “If I repent of anything it is likely to be my good behaviour."
