  1. I think the only other serious competitor is Mike Thompson from California.

I’d say it’s about 60/40 though in favor of Grijalva based on what I’m reading on it.

  2. Jim,

She has a lot of clout, but then Hispanics are feeling a bit shortchanged with Bill Richardson giving up governor for one of the lesser cabinet positions, I hope they see that they need a second Hispanic.

  3. I am reading articles on Grijalva, and like what I am reading. He would be a fine Sec. of Interior regardless of his ethnicity. And while I agree with those who are upset that Bill Richardson should have been Sec. of State (I predict HC will last less than 3 years; there are too many philosophical conflicts between her and Obama, and then there is the BILL wildcard), my feeling is based on his tremendous background and experience, not because he is Hispanic. Besides, given the nature of the economy these days, I would not say that Commerce is, per se, a lesser cabinet position, Ralph. I think Richardson will be allowed to take that position and run with it, and he will have considerable success. Besides, if and when HC resigns, Obama already has a vetted and experienced candidate in place to step right in. Rather shrewd, I would say.

Folks should damp down the whining about this and that, and focus on supporting Obama just we did during the election. The conservatives are looking for wedge issues to stop progress and use that as a way to make gains in the 2012 election. Let’s not help them by fragmenting before Obama has a chance to even take office.
